If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’ve been on a never ending search for the perfect make up remover wipes.  So far Pond’s Original wipes have consistently been my favorite.

I FINALLY got my hands on the Alcone Make-Off Wipes at IMATS LA.  I have heard soooo many great things about them.  I’ve been intrigued for years after 1st learning about them from Erin of Scandalous Beauty.Check out the size of this wipe.  It’s like a face towel.  I LOVE IT!!!

So what are my thoughts? I like them.  The only cons I have are the fragrance (which after using them for a while doesn’t bother me as much), the claim of all makeup being removed with only 1 wipe ( I need 2 which is good…but still needed more than 1) and the accessibility barrier ( I can only get them online or at trade shows).

These are the softest wipes I’ve ever used.  They feel absolutely wonderful on my face. Every single one of these wipes is moist.  Definitely a benefit of them being individually wrapped. My face feels clean without feeling dry.  I recently used them on one of my clients and she was very pleased.  I purchased the 80 pack.  Wish I would’ve bought more.  I didn’t want to get too many though since I had never used them.

Overall I’m pleased with them and I will buy more. Have you tried these wipes?  What are your thoughts?

Last week I went to Ulta to use my 20% off coupon and to purchase Revlon Lip Butters which were on sale for 40%.  While in line, I decided to check out the travel size products and I noticed they had  Yes to Cucumbers and Yes to Blueberries Facial Towelettes available.  Since I’m always on the hunt for good wipes, I decided to give them a try.  Yes to Cucumbers wipes were recommended to me a couple of months ago after I reviewed the Noxema wipes and was highly disappointed. I figured if I didn’t like them, at least I didn’t spend a lot of money and I wouldn’t be stuck with a lot of them.

I’m highly impressed with the size of this towelette.

So what are my thoughts?  They are so much better than the Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, that I tried last week. I like them but I’m not in love with them.   Everything was great about these wipes except for two things:

  1. The Fragrance.  I could tolerate it with the Say Yes to Blueberries wipes, but the fragrance in Say Yes To Cucumber wipes was very strong.  I can smell it through the packaging.
  2. My eyes burned.  When removing my eye makeup, there was some burning after a while.  I’d recommend just placing the wipe on the eye for a while to let the makeup dissolve then very gently wiping it off.  Don’t just rub your eyes with these wipes.

I’d consider repurchasing the Say Yes to Blueberries, if I couldn’t get my Ponds wipes for some reason,  but not the Say Yes to Cucumbers.  I’d still recommend them though if you’re not sensitive to fragrances and don’t have problems with wipes burning your eyes.  The wipes are very sturdy yet soft.  I love the size of them. On both packs, the very first wipe was moist.  I was able to remove my make up with 3 Say Yes To Blueberry Wipes, and 2 Say Yes To Cucumber wipes (for some reason, my eyes burned more with the Cucumber than Blueberry so I had to stop).

Have you tried these wipes before?

I received these wipes as a Klout Perk. As you know from my many cleansing wipes posts, I’m a huge fan of wipes. They’re so convenient.
I also received a moisturizer that I’ll review in another post.

So what are my thoughts about the Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes? I don’t care for them.  I’ll finish the pack because I don’t want them to go to waste, but I’m not pleased with them nor would I purchase them.  One of my biggest issues with wipes is them not being wet enough.  I know that sometimes when you get a new pack of wipes (except for my trusty Ponds wipes) the first few may be a little damp, but not wet but these seemed barely moist. I also didn’t like that it took 5 wipes for me to get my face clean.  Even by the 5th wipe, it still wasn’t wet. It was just damp.  :-(  On a good note, They didn’t burn my face, lips, or eyes.

The texture reminds of me of the Neutrogena wipes. They’re pretty sturdy and soft.  I’m sure they’d feel even better if they were actually wet.

Have you tried these? If so, what were your thoughts.

I’ve posted a few times on make up remover wipes and how I’m still on the hunt for the perfect ones.  So far, the Ponds Towelettes above are my favorite.  To get more info on my experiences with make up remover wipes you can check here here, and here:-)

My latest experiment was with Mirra Renew Exfoliating Cleansing Cloths and the generic Kroger Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes. I purchased both of these from Kroger’s Grocery Store.

On the left are the Kroger Brand Make-Up Remover Wipes and on the right are the Mirra Cleansing Cloths

In this post I’ll focus on the Mirra Wipes.  I’ll cover the generic Kroger Brand wipes in Part 2 of this review.

The smooth remover side

The exfoliating side

I purchased these wipes for $2.99. In all honesty, I only tried these because the Ponds wipes were not on sale and they cost $5.49.  I know that they were cheaper at Target but didn’t have time to go there.  I figured for only $2.99, it was worth a try.  At least I’d have another topic to blog about. :-)

So what were my thoughts on the Mirra Renew Exfoliating Cleansing Cloths?

I didn’t like them and won’t be buying them again.  I’m very glad I only spent $2.99.  The idea of having a 3-n-1 cloth (removing make up, cleansing skin, and exfoliating) was so promising. In actuality, it didn’t live up to the promises.  My skin didn’t really feel clean until using about 4 of the wipes.  They aren’t as wet as I’d like my wipes to be.  Even towards the middle of the pack, they still aren’t moist enough.  The pack that I bought had cucumber & Green Tea + Vitamins, C, E, & B Complex.  I can’t say that I noticed any benefits from these ingredients.  The Cucumber & Green Tea fragrance was a bit stronger than I am comfortable with.

I will make note that when removing my eye make up, after a couple of wipes my eyes burned. ( I used the soft side of course)  When removing my lip color, however my lips didn’t burn like they did with the Philosophy wipes.  *whew* These wipes did have an unpleasant taste though. :-(  The exfoliating side is a bit harsher than I expected and due to the wipes not being wet, it quickly becomes uncomfortable.  After using these wipes and then using my Clarisonic with my African Black Soap, there was quite a bit of make up on my brush.  When I used my Clinique Clarifying Lotion afterwards, I could still see make up on the cotton ball. :-(  When I use Ponds, M.A.C., and Neutrogena wipes, I don’t notice this. On average I used 3-5 Mirra wipes get my make up off.  I’d prefer to use no more than 2.
