Weekend Full FOTD 2I usually don’t keep the same looks but it was something about my smokey green eyes and the bold pink lip with glowing bronzed cheeks that made me do an instant replay from Saturday to Sunday.

WEekend FOTD close with flashHa ha! This picture was taken with flash. I promise in real life my lips weren’t quite that bright. Whew! The flash made them look neon as if they’d glow in the dark . LOL! :-)

Weekend FOTD Full view no flashWeekend FOTD sideviewAbove are more  pictures without a flash to give you a better idea of how it looked.  After reviewing these pictures, I just realized I didn’t do any close ups of my eyes. 2013-02-15 20.20.21

This weekend I worked with the incredible celebrity make up artist AJ Crimson and his makeup team at LeToya Luckett’s Lady L Boutique in the Houston Galleria Mall. We were a part of the Glam Slam Beauty Suite event that allowed clients to get a total makeover in one location. Teams were led by celebrity Hairstylist Kiyah Wright, Celebrity Lash Guru Jamaal Buster, and Celebrity Manicurists Skyye.

2013-02-17 12.38.20Above I’m with AJ Crimson wearing his Limited Edition Allstar Weekend Kissable Couture Lip Colors. I created a blue ombre lip. Below I’m with Platinum recording artist LeToya Luckett.2013-02-16 00.31.44

Words can’t express how grateful I was that AJ Crimson selected me to be a part of his makeup team.  This experience was spectacular! I was able to become more familiar with his Kissable Couture Lip Colors. I was introduced to his pressed powders. I also got to really work with the AJ Crimson Creme Foundations (which I reviewed a couple months ago here).  We provided makeovers Fri-Sun.

2013-02-15 15.04.50I’m holding the brand new AJ Crimson CCC palette.  It’s a convenient compact with all 8 shades of his Creme Foundation. I’d highly recommend it for makeup artist who want great foundation in a condensed form.  I’d also recommend it for makeup lovers who want to have versatility with creating looks.  You can do your overall skin color, highlight, contour, add cheek color, do lips, etc… So many options with this product.

2013-02-15 11.52.06Here are the Kissable Couture Lip Colors and AJ Crimson Creme Foundations and Pressed Powders. I really, really like his lip colors.  They range from sheer glosses to liquid lipsticks.  They all feel very comfortable on your lips without being too sticky or tacky.  My favorite is Fantasies, which I purchased 2 tubes at The Makeup Show Orlando.  It’s a beautiful red…but they’re currently out of stock so we didn’t use it for the event. :-( 2013-02-16 00.33.35Here is Aj doing a lip demo

My Purple Lip Demo Above I’m giving one of my clients a Purple Lip Demo using AJ Crimson Kissable Couture Limited Edition Allstar Weekend Purple with the regular Kissable Couture lipgloss in Tyler applied in the middle for an extra pop. :-)

OMG! These lashes are amazing!!

OMG! These lashes are amazing!! Can’t wait to try them on my clients.

I learned a new technique from Jamaal and his team this weekend. Instead of waving the lashes back and forth while you’re waiting for the glue to get tacky, just use a small hand held fan to quickly dry the glue.  He’s a genius! I’ve been doing makeup for 6yrs now, this has never crossed my mind. Totally going to get a little fan for my kit now. :-)

Yay! I met YouTube Beauty Guru Ateya. She was one of the first people I followed on YouTube years ago. She's super sweet in person.

Throughout the day, it’s quite common for us to become oily and need to touch up with our compacts. However, before you do, make sure to blot the excess oil first. This will prevent your makeup from looking too cakey. It will also reduce the amount of oil and bacteria being transferred from your skin to your brush, powder puff, or sponge that you use.

There are many ways you can blot your skin.  I prefer blotting sheets. They come in a variety of sizes and are made by many different brands.  If you don’t have any blot sheets, you can always use a 1 ply tissue (most tissue is 2 ply so just separate it).  Gently press down on your skin, don’t rub because you will rub off your makeup.

I was inspired to do this post by my fellow make up artist Jessica Marie.  She tagged me on Instagram.  I figured I had too much to say to just do it there so I decided to make a post about it.

I have to admit that I go through phases with my make up so things do change but I also have staples that I never take out.  My actual makeup bags change as well depending on what purse I’m carrying at the time. LOL! :-)

So what is all of this stuff?  I’ll explain below.

2 Nars Blushes: Exhibit A for cheeks and Albatross for my cheek highlight

Yes, there are 3 face powders in my everyday makeup bag. LOL! They all serve different purposes though.

MAC Prep and Prime Skin helps to keep my makeup on longer, reduces oiliness and the appearance of my pores.  I use this powder before and after  I apply my makeup.

Cover Girl Queen Collection Matte Powder in Golden as my overall face powder. I preferred the previous formula over this new one because it provided more coverage but it’s still a nice powder and I prefer the finish on my oily skin more than MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural.

Cover Girl Queen Collection Bronzer in Ebony Bronze is what I use to contour my face.

Black Opal Foundation Stick in Heavenly Honey I can’t tell you enough how much I love these foundation sticks.  Normally I use two this one, and Truly Topaz, which is my skin tone.  However, the cap on my Truly Topaz doesn’t stay on well so I took it out of my bag. I use Heavenly Honey as a highlighting concealer. (under my brows and under my eyes to my cheeks).

Lancome Oscillating Mascara Primer: The absolute BEST primer I’ve ever used…also the most expensive. :-(  It makes ANY mascara work well.

Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara my favorite drug store mascara

NYX Blotting Sheets because I really believe I’m the oiliest person on Earth. I use these about 2-3x daily.  On a good note, they work really well and I can go back to being matte with just two sheets. :-)

MAC Shadestick in Gentle Lentil R.I.P. to the shadesticks. They’ve been discontinued and it’s such a pity.  They were the most convenient way for me to do my eyes. :-(

3 Eyeliners

MAC Pearlglide in Designer Purple (one of my all time favorite eyeliners). I sometimes use this all over my lid because it’a a beautiful glittery purple.  Other times I’ll use it under my bottom lash line for a pop of color or to make a smokey eye.

NYX Black Eye Pencil just depends on the day.  I don’t wear eyeliner in my waterline all of the time, sometimes I’ll want to so it’s in there.  Every now and then I’ll use it to line the top of my lash line.

Elf Waterproof Eyeliner Pen I use this to line the top of my lash line when I want to use a liquid black.

Naked Pigment Sample My all-time favorite brow highlight.  I usually keep a Vanilla Pigment Sample in my bag as well but I ran out.  I’ll sometimes use Vanilla as my brow highlight or transition color above my crease.  More often I use it as my cheek highlight.  I have NARS Albatross in my bag now because I ran out of Vanilla.

Clinique Pencil Sharpener

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Balm Stain  I alternate between this orange one and the pink one. These surprised me because they have a good amount of pigment to be a stain.  I’ll do a full review in a later post.

Elf Lipstain in First Date.  Going to have to get another one soon. These Elf lipstains are nice because they don’t dry out or crumble on your lips like a lot of other stains I’ve tried.

2 Lipsticks

MAC Ruby Woo my favorite red lipstick

MAC Vegas Volt a great coral color.

2 Lipliners

MAC Beet which is a pinkish red. I love this color I blend it various colors from nudes, corals, oranges, pinks, and reds. Sometimes I wear it alone or I’ll just dab some gloss in the middle of my lips.

Cabernet Sorry I don’t have a brand name.  It came with my makeup kit I received when I took Ebony Mac’s makeup class last summer.  It looks very similar to MAC Burgundy Lip Pencil or Clinique’s Bon Bon.

MAC Lipglass in Wonder Woman (limited edition that I regret not buying 2 of) It’s a gorgeous red with shimmer.

My brushes

Smashbox face and body brush that I’m no longer happy with because of the extensive shedding. :-( For the 1st yr I had it, it was my favorite face brush. Prime example of how an expensive brush doesn’t always mean it’s a better brush. I still have my CVS Essence of Beauty brushes from 2003 and they work fine.

Crown Brush Angle Brush I use this for contouring my face.  I love the fact that it’s pink.  I got it from Hautelook during one of the Crown Brush sales.

Sonia Kashuk Pointed Foundation Brush used to blend concealer under my eyes

Coastal Scents Pink Flat Shader Brush primarily used to carve out my brow with concealer or apply naked as my brow highlight.  I also use it to apply lid colors.

Because IMATS is geared towards makeup lovers and makeup professionals, there were plenty of demos with industry pros showing different pointers, techniques, and tips on how to apply makeup.

This post will focus on just some of the makeup demos I saw and captured with my camera. Of course there were many many more throughout the two days.

This is International makeup artist Anabel Vargas.  She taught a class on how to apply makeup to Women of Color. This is the closest I got to the finished look before leaving to attend Kabuki’s class.

Above is world renown  make up artist Kabuki. He was the Keynote speaker on Saturday afternoon. He showed us how he applies an applique to the face.  He actually handmade this one by starting off with sketches, then cutting out a pattern and lastly adding the jewels.  That’s an amazing skill.
There were also several demos being done throughout the exhibit hall.  See below.Above is Sean of MUD doing a demo on Baltimore based make up artist Cynthia.Urban Decay launched their brand new foundation called Naked Skin and provided demos.

YouTube Makeup Tutorial Guru Tiffany D worked with Sigma and did make overs. It was cool to see her in real life do makeup on another person. :-) Eve Pearl also did makeup demos at her booth.  Her client looks happy with the results so far. :-) This is international celebrity makeup artist Rae Morris.  She did a class on “Timeless Makeup”.  She demonstrated great anti-aging techniques and showed us how some of the simplest of changes with filling in brows, contouring, and applying eyeliner/eyeshadow can either add on or take away years on a face.

While on our Mother’s Day Trip, I also went to the most amazing Sephora I’ve ever been to.

It’s located right outside of the Venetian and below Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum.

Can you see how big it is even from the outside?

Wow! Check out the fantastic MUFE section!!!

I’d love to be able to come here on a regular basis.  Too bad it’s so far away.  I wish we had something like this by me.  I’ve heard that there will be a MUFE store somewhere in Dallas.  Guess I’ll be taking more road trips.

I was amazed by the big MUFE section so that’s what i took the most pictures of.  I did however manage to take a couple pictures of the rest of the store.

Again, I didn’t buy anything because I’m waiting until IMATS next month, but boy was I tempted. Plus, I left my Pro Backstage Card at home and didn’t want to pay the full price. LOL!
