AJ Crimson On The Go Tour Flyer

In the previous post, I gave you a synopsis of the 1st half of the “On The Go” Tour featuring AJ Crimson and his AJ Crimson Pro products.  In this post, I’ll focus on the 2nd half of the class which includes Celebrity Lash Guru Ja’Maal Buster.

BeautyByLeRenda Ja'Maal Buster talking to the attendees of the On The Go Tour HoustonHe gave us the background on how he developed his brand of lashes and the benefit of using them verses other lashes.  The biggest benefit is the way the lashes feel.  They’re very lightweight and easy to maneuver. The bands are thin which makes it so much easier to apply to the lash line.  (I can vouch for this.  I really like his lashes. I bought some last year when I worked with him and AJ for  the Glam Suite during NBA  All-Star Weekend).

Ja’Maal asked for a volunteer to apply his lashes on.  BeautyByLeRenda Ja'Maal Buster's Model NikkiProfessional Makeup Artist Nikki was chosen as his model.

He informed us of the different styles of lashes and that each style was based on a story from his clients in his early years. The lashes have names like “Soap Opera” (which I wore last night), “Crush”, 2nd Date Guaranteed”, “Daddy’s Little Girl”, and “Disturbia” (named after the Rihanna video that he created amazing lashes for).

He showed us exactly how he uses the Ja’Maal Buster Lash Adhesive and Lash Tool to apply lashes on Nikki.

Ja’Maal explained how versatile his lashes are and did a bonus demo to show how to add drama and glam by stacking his lashes. He asked for another model to show the difference stacking lashes can make on your clients.BeautyByLeRenda Ja'Maal telling class about versatility of his lashes

Here is the multi-pack of Ja’Maal Buster Lashes being passed through the class.  These would be great for Professional Makeup Artists to have in their Pro kits.  :-)

EcoTools Lash ContanerI received these lashes as a Klout Perk a few months ago with this Eco Tools Kit. I like the fact that it gives you directions.EcoTools Lash Container backThe packaging is so cute. I love that these lashes look like they’re on a mannequin.

EcoTools Lashes This set comes with “tools” to make it easier to apply your false lashes. There’s a container of lash glue as well as a spoolie/lash tool. EcoTools Lash GlueThe glue isn’t a squeeze tube. It actually has a plastic applicator

EcoTools Lash with Glue It doesn’t show up at first, but for some reason this glues seems to turn an iridescent blue color when applied to the lash strip.  It’s both cool and strange. Ha ha! :-)EcoTools Lashes On Open EyeThese lashes are very natural. On the package it states they’re great for everyday wear.
EcoTools Lash Left side looking downEcoTools lashes 1 eye up One of the downsides of the lashes was that with a flash, they appear very shiny, almost like plastic. Another downside is that the strip is kind of stiff so it makes it harder to bend to fit the lashes on your eye.  Last thing I don’t like is the design.  I get that they want the lashes to wisp at the outer ends, but I don’t like how the lashes are lighter and thinner on the inner corner.  When you put them on, it appears that you only have on half a strip.

Overall, they’re okay. Not dramatic enough for me but they’re better than not doing anything.  I’m guessing these lashes will stand out a lot more with mascara on top.  I didn’t apply any because I wanted to give a true review.  I may reapply them for another look.

Rimmel The Max Volume Flash Mascara I took a chance when I tried this mascara.  I hadn’t heard any reviews and didn’t take any time to look it up.  I saw that it was on sale for $2 at H.E.B. grocery store and decided to give it a try.  Rimmel Max Volume Mascara brush I’ve been using it for a while now and it does a pretty good job.  I recently posted a look while using it when I created my FOTD with Ofra and Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.  To see that post click here.Rimmel Max Flash Mascara on one eye

It’s ok.  It’s not the best mascara I’ve ever used but it’s definitely not the worse.  It got the job done.  I mean, it was only $2 so my expectations weren’t that high anyway.  Not sure that I’d buy it again, but  I don’t regret that I took a chance on it.

I tried something a little different this weekend for my makeup.  I’ve heard several makeup artists combining more than one lash to create dramatic effects but I’d never done it.  I figured I’d give it a try.

Even though my favorite lashes are #7 from MAC, I don’t always want to spend that much ($15) on a pair of false lashes. So that’s why I like Ardell false lashes and the beauty supply store brand (which has no name by the way, just numbers. LOL!)

So can you guess how much these lashes cost? Only $1. #winning!!! :-) They add just the right amount of drama and glam with out being too over the top. I’ve worn these 3 times so far and they are still holding up well.

What’s your favorite brand of inexpensive false lashes?
