I attended the inaugural launch of Houston Fashion Designer Jonathan Blake on last Wednesday evening 10/3/12.  It was held at the Houston Junior League.

Above are pictures before the show started.  It was very well put together.

Live music by a string quartet.

The guests seemed to have a good time even before the show started.  That’s always a good sign of a great event.

It probably had a little something to do with the pictures above. ;-p

I met the uber fabulous Joy Sewing.

Hey look who was in the audience!! I also met actor Lee Majors.  He was sitting at the table next to me.  I had great seats. :-)

As a Blogger I was allowed to go backstage to get a behind the scenes perspective for my readers.

The details of this top below are breath taking.  It’s so pretty and was actually handmade so this it’s very unique.

Here’s what this top looks like  with the model on the runway. *Sidenote* I love this model’s brows and cheeks. :-p
Below you can see how some of these dresses on the rack looked on the models

Above are men’s stylists Natalie Guzman with the Man of the night Fashion Designer Jonathan Blake

Valobra’s jewelry was used in the show.  The store is located  in Highland Village in River Oaks area of Houston.  As I mentioned in my post about my experience at Great Day Houston with Debra Duncan, this jewelry is very expensive and highly guarded.  When I went backstage, the security guard was standing next the the pieces and even protecting the pictures. LOL!

Yes in the close up picture above in the right picture the bracelet is $34,750.00 and the necklace is $159,900.00.  This explains the security guard. LOL! ;-p

The makeup was provided by Christi Harris

The show began with a lovely ballet performance.

This picture came out blurry, :-( but I still wanted to include it because I love these dresses.

The color theory used here was great.  I really like the green dress with the red lip.  Also this model’s cheek highlight is on point. Werk!!

Jonathan uses great colors.

These white dresses are so elegant

This dress really stood out to me. I remember seeing it on the rack backstage.  It looks soooo much better on the model. The dress below was elegant and chic.  I could see it being a wedding gown.

Okay, back to color. Look at the pretty blue

The grand finale

This is Miss Texas USA modeling the final piece of the night.  This dress received lots of applause.  The rose petals on the bottom were individually hand placed.

The makeup artist did a great job with the soft smokey eyes, glowing skin and cheeks, with the neutral lips. Kudos!!

The week after I posted this White nail polish combo, I tried a new spin on the White nails by adding a couple more colors.

I really liked how my 1st experiment with the white polish turned out so I decided to add yellow and teal along with the pink and purple to see how it would look.

I started off by polishing all of my nails white.  Then I added the crackle polishes in a diagonal on all nails except my ring finger.

Now before you say anything, I just want to point out that I clean up the extra polish at the end.  I know this looks messy right now. LOL! :-D

Next I added Yellow and Pink crackle colors on my ring finger.

Next I added the Purple

Then the Teal

Topped off the look with silver glitter nail art polish and confetti polish.

Now to clean up the messy areas.

Here’s the finished look.

Woo Hoo!!! I finally made it to the Make Up For Ever (MUFE) store in Dallas! I intended to post this weeks ago, but somehow never got to it.  I visited the store last month.  I had such a wonderful experience that I wanted to document it on Beauty By LeRenda.

First I have to say I was ecstatic that they allowed me to take pictures.

I was like a kid in a candy store.  Soooo many amazing products, so many I didn’t get to play with last year at the MUFE Pro Road Show but now had the opportunity.

This was definitely a time that I had to prioritize needs vs wants. I have a MUFE Backstage Pass (makeup artist pro card) so I had to resist the urge of purchasing a bunch of stuff just because I had a discount. LOL! I also had to keep in mind that I would be returning in a month for the 2012 MUFE Pro Road Show being held in Dallas. Ahhh, decisions decisions.

I knew for sure I wanted some Aqua Creams so that’s what I went to first.  I also needed some brush cleanser so I got that as well as a beautiful teal eyeliner that’s 100% better than the Elf one a purchased a couple of months ago from Target.

Here I am with one of the MUAs, Jaimie, who helped me.

Here I am with Charlie, the other MUA who helped me.

I’m a firm believer in giving praises when they’re due especially when it comes to customer service.  Too often we hear negative and not positive.  These two were tremendously helpful even before they knew I was a MUA.  I’m looking forward to seeing them again this weekend at the Pro Road Show.

I attended the Sisters Couture Haute Summer Style Soiree Sat 8/18/12.  I was invited by to cover the event as a blogger.

The sisters, Susie and Angie had a nice set up as well as light refreshments for their guests and gift bags.

These water bottles were a cute addition

Lamik Beauty was a vendor.  They provided giveaways and make up demos.

JT of Lamik Beauty provided the makeup demos.  Due to me working at the MAC counter earlier that day I already had on a full face of makeup when I got there,  so JT just used the Lamik Brow Kit on me.  I’m impressed with it.  I’ve heard great things about it, I was glad to have been able to experience it 1st hand. :-)

Above is a picture of the colors she used on me with the brush

Here I am with Veronica. She’s the event planner who contacted me to cover the event. Thanks Veronica!

Above is a picture of me with the owners of Sisters Couture Angie and Susie.  They really put on a nice event. Good job ladies!

There was also a DJ on the ones and twos providing entertainment for us as we browsed, shopped, and got makeup demos.

I love the fact that Angie and Susie not only provide high quality hair extensions, but they also provide hair care products, including my favorite brand Kinky Curly!

I’ve been using Kinky Curly for years.  I remember when I could only get it at Whole Foods.  I was elated to see the brand being sold at my local Target.  Now that I know it’s at the Sisters Couture Boutique I’ll come here to get it.

This Gloss Pomade is something I haven’t seen at Target or Whole Foods.  I’m definitely going to have to come back to try it.

They even carry nail polish!!!

I love how the vendor Pop Of Color used popcorn to accent their products

OMG!! I totally fell in love with Z Boutique’s mannequins!

Here I am with my fellow Houston Fashion Blogger Valerie of Val Verde Style.

They had a really good turn out.  The customers seemed to be quite pleased.

This was an experiment. I was curious to see how I could use white polish and make it work with other colors, particularly crackle/shatter polishes.

Here are the steps I used to get the look above.

Initially I planned to do two different looks, but started getting sleepy and was only able to do one.  I ended up doing the 2nd look the next day.  So in this post I’ll focus on Look 1.  I used all of the polishes except the yellow and dark teal (the two on the right end) for Look 1.

I polished my nails with the white polish, then added 2012 and China Glaze Crackle polishes on the tips in a diagonal.

Next I added the Sally Hansen Crackle Polish right beneath the 2012 Crackle polish.

Then I added the purple China Glaze Polish.

Afterwards I applied the Klean Color Polish in Aurora which is a very pretty confetti polish.

 Here’s the finished look below.

I was trying to get as much light as I could without having to go outside in the hot Houston Sun. I figured I’d get right next to the window.  I kind of like the background effect.

LOL! My baby boy King Solomon was concerned at the fact I kept standing by the window with my hand up and ended up in one of my pics. Ha ha! :-D

What are you wearing on your nails? Do you ever create your own nail art?
