The First class of the day was facilitated by Oklahoma Make Up Artist Gwen Pettie-Green.  I’m so happy or her.  We follow each other on facebook and twitter.  I got a chance to meet her in person at the MUFE Pro Road Show last year in Austin.  The name of this class was Creating Beauty.

Gwen creating some very cool glitter brows on her model.  They were just enough to add a little extra without being too over the top.  I’m totally going to try this.  She then added a gold lid then black liner.

Above, is the midway look that Gwen created.  Below is where she began to add more drama with the lips and eyes.

I really like how Gwen used the lash brush to apply mascara to her model’s lashes.  She was really able to work through each lash.  I need to do this more often.  I purchased a Royal & Langnickel Revolution lash brush, but haven’t used it yet.

The 2nd class of the day was The Artistic Advantage which was taught by Joy Hom.  She did a fabulous job in showing us how to use the MUFE Flash Color Palette and how extremely versatile this product is.

In the above picture, Joy is using different colors from the MUFE Flash Color Palette to match the models skin.  It’s something that you have to practice and really incorporate color theory to pull off.

She explained that a lot of it is trial and error and you have to train your eye to be able to pick up the right mixture to make the match.  She also used the Flash Color Palette to highlight and contour.

This was the completed Beauty Look that Joy created with the MUFE Flash Color Palette.  Just for fun, she kept going to take it to more of a theatrical look.

Here I am with the model and Joy.  I truly enjoyed this class.  Joy does a great job in explaining her techniques to help the class gain a better understanding of the products.  Oh this is totally off topic but did you check out the model’s shoes?   Here’s a closer picture. I couldn’t help but take a picture.  I’m in love with these.  Not sure what I’d wear them with or wear I’d wear them to, but I’m sure I could pull them off. Ha ha! ;-P

I attended the Sisters Couture Haute Summer Style Soiree Sat 8/18/12.  I was invited by to cover the event as a blogger.

The sisters, Susie and Angie had a nice set up as well as light refreshments for their guests and gift bags.

These water bottles were a cute addition

Lamik Beauty was a vendor.  They provided giveaways and make up demos.

JT of Lamik Beauty provided the makeup demos.  Due to me working at the MAC counter earlier that day I already had on a full face of makeup when I got there,  so JT just used the Lamik Brow Kit on me.  I’m impressed with it.  I’ve heard great things about it, I was glad to have been able to experience it 1st hand. :-)

Above is a picture of the colors she used on me with the brush

Here I am with Veronica. She’s the event planner who contacted me to cover the event. Thanks Veronica!

Above is a picture of me with the owners of Sisters Couture Angie and Susie.  They really put on a nice event. Good job ladies!

There was also a DJ on the ones and twos providing entertainment for us as we browsed, shopped, and got makeup demos.

I love the fact that Angie and Susie not only provide high quality hair extensions, but they also provide hair care products, including my favorite brand Kinky Curly!

I’ve been using Kinky Curly for years.  I remember when I could only get it at Whole Foods.  I was elated to see the brand being sold at my local Target.  Now that I know it’s at the Sisters Couture Boutique I’ll come here to get it.

This Gloss Pomade is something I haven’t seen at Target or Whole Foods.  I’m definitely going to have to come back to try it.

They even carry nail polish!!!

I love how the vendor Pop Of Color used popcorn to accent their products

OMG!! I totally fell in love with Z Boutique’s mannequins!

Here I am with my fellow Houston Fashion Blogger Valerie of Val Verde Style.

They had a really good turn out.  The customers seemed to be quite pleased.

I discovered this beauty while browsing through the cosmetic section of H.E.B. grocery store last week.  It retails for only $1.99.  When I saw how pretty and vibrant this pink was I had to pick it up.  After reading that it was a matte lipstick, I was really happy because I’ve been looking for a bold pink lipstick for a while.  I want a lipstick that would be equivalent to M.A.C. Ruby woo…but pink.  (If ya’ll know of one please share it with me. ;-p)

There’s a lot of product in this tube for only $1.99 #winning!!!

This is a swatch of the lipstick with a flash

This picture was taken without a flash

It goes on really smooth

So what are my thoughts?  I really like this lipstick.  It’s advertised to last up to 4hrs and I agree.  I didn’t have a problem with it lasting.  The only downside is that this lipstick is really not matte.  It reminds me more of a mixture between a MAC Amplified and Satin textures.  I LOVE the color though and for $1.99, I can deal with it not being as matte as I’d hoped.

I know Walgreens had Wet-n-Wild products on sale buy 2 get 1 free last week. I’m not sure when the sale ends though.  If you want to try out these Wet-n-Wild matte lipsticks…or any of their products, it would be a good idea to try them while they’re on sale. :-)

This was an experiment. I was curious to see how I could use white polish and make it work with other colors, particularly crackle/shatter polishes.

Here are the steps I used to get the look above.

Initially I planned to do two different looks, but started getting sleepy and was only able to do one.  I ended up doing the 2nd look the next day.  So in this post I’ll focus on Look 1.  I used all of the polishes except the yellow and dark teal (the two on the right end) for Look 1.

I polished my nails with the white polish, then added 2012 and China Glaze Crackle polishes on the tips in a diagonal.

Next I added the Sally Hansen Crackle Polish right beneath the 2012 Crackle polish.

Then I added the purple China Glaze Polish.

Afterwards I applied the Klean Color Polish in Aurora which is a very pretty confetti polish.

 Here’s the finished look below.

I was trying to get as much light as I could without having to go outside in the hot Houston Sun. I figured I’d get right next to the window.  I kind of like the background effect.

LOL! My baby boy King Solomon was concerned at the fact I kept standing by the window with my hand up and ended up in one of my pics. Ha ha! :-D

What are you wearing on your nails? Do you ever create your own nail art?
