The Tremendously Talented artist/designer Lauren Luna had a Meet and Greet event at Qwashae Boutique in Pearland, Texas 7/21/12. I had the honor of doing Lauren Luna’s make up for this event.  She’s such a beautiful lady.

Originally from Ohio, Lauren has been in the Houston area for a year now and boy am I glad she relocated.  She’s so much fun to be around.  She’s one of those people that you could literally just sit and talk to for hours and never get bored.  She has a great spirit and aura about her that just exudes both creativity and positivity.  Her work is both breath taking and inspiring.

I’ve been to Qwashae a few times now and I’ve always  been in awe of the artwork there.  It turns out that Lauren Luna is the artist behind those paintings.

In the above picture, we are standing next to her painting of Qwashae Boutique. :-)

There was also a Qwashae Fashion Show exhibiting the gorgeous pieces that the boutique offers.

I was blessed with the opportunity to be the makeup artist for this awesome event.  This is me working with one of the lovely models Flor. :-)

Below is Micole

The dress that Micole is so effortlessly pulling off above was my favorite of the night. I’m going to have to go back and get it.  This picture doesn’t do it justice.  The color is somewhere between a bright coral and a hot pink…but it’s really not pink or coral.  I know that sounds confusing but it’s unlike any other color I’ve seen.  I love it!!

This is Model EmilyThis picture was a close up of Emily while she was modeling inside of the display case, hence the glare.  I still felt it was a cool shot. This would’ve been a great shot had the sun not caused a glare. :-( Oh well. Hopefully you can still see what I was trying to capture.  This is the front view of the store.

It took me a while to try to come up with words to describe my thoughts and feelings about Qwashae Boutique.  Honestly, I love EVERYTHING about this store.  You get such a good vibe the minute you walk in.  It’s an experience unlike any I’ve ever had before.  When I asked the owner, Shakena, what Qwashae meant, she told me it was Happy in Greek.  She wants her customers to feel happy when they walk in and happy when they walk out.  I will testify that this has been my experience every time I’ve gone there.  I’m a firm believer that customer service can either make or break your business.  Well at Qwashae Boutique the owner and staff provide nothing but outstanding service.

Immediately after we attended the Macy’s Celebrates Black History Month Honoring Romare Bearden, we went to our after party at Aloft Hotel (Part of the W Hotel chain) in the Galleria area of Houston.

We were in WXYZ Bar and Lounge.  This venue is very contemporary and posh.

Here are some of my fellow Houston Bloggers chatting at the after party

We had delicious food reserved for us. :-)

Special thanks to Shalanda for organizing the night for us.  We all had such a fabulous time. :-)

On the front row from left to right:  Vernetta of Women Are Game Changers, Shanda of The Naturalista Glam, Crystal of P.S. Your Lovely, LeRenda of Beauty By LeRenda.  In the middle is Imani of Fashion By Faith Seekers.  In the back row from left to right:  Shalanda of Live-Life-In-Style and her co-worker LaTecia.

I attended the Artopia Preview Party at Roak on 1/19/12.  It was an intro to the main event which will be held on 1/28/12 at Winter Street Studio.  The Preview Party was a very nice kick off and appeared to be well planned and organized.  There were Art pieces all around for viewing as well as live demos.

The venue, Roak, was very cool and chic.

The Black Carpet led you to the fun Photo Machine (photobooth style) and the Artopia Backdrop. We were able to get pictures printed right then.

Here I am with fellow Houston Blogger Brandie.  She’s holding an original Lauren Luna blinged out t-shirt.  Make sure to check out her blog ChicFabu.net.

There was live performance art by an ice sculptor.  Can you guess what he’s making?  This was the coolest (literally) part of the night. :-)

Before he got to the main piece, he carved out a few ice mugs for attendees. The picture above shows him making 3 mugs.

He’s almost finished.  Have you figured it out yet?

Yep, it’s an open toe pump! :-) He was very particular with the details.  Check out the heel.

Live Painting going on.

This artist was very gifted and cultivated!

The highlight of my night was getting a chance to meet artist and shoe designer Lauren Luna.  Above I’m standing with Lauren Luna and Brandie Randolph, PR and Fashion Blogger.  Thanks so much Brandie for introducing Lauren to me! :-)

Her work is absolutely spectacular.  She’s sensationally talented.  She creates works of art with all types of shoes from stilettos to sneakers.

I purchased one of Lauren Luna’s prints.  Isn’t it incredible?  She’s a trained artist and designer. For more info on Lauren Luna check out her website LaurenLuna.com
