WOW! Would be the short and sweet version of my 1st New York Fashion Week experience, however, I’m sure you’d prefer actual details of my trip. LOL! :-)

NYC Selfie at the Park with Snow 1 I had to take selfies with the snow in the background because before this trip, I’d never been in real snow. :-)NYC Selfie in the park with snow 2 By the way, I’m wearing MAC Lipstick in Sin. It’s a Pro color.  It lasted all day! Like, for real. I took it off before I went to sleep that night.  I tried it on at the MAC Pro Soho store and kept it on.

I almost got it, but it’s so close to Diva.  I really couldn’t justify buying it. Here are swatches below.  The Beauty Blogger in me couldn’t resist doing a product review while I was in NYC. LOL! :-)MAC Sin Lipstick Label

Me in front of the MAC Pro Sign I was on my way to work on a photoshoot with UK Designer Blessed Zion. This explains why I’m at the store with my Zuca and my bag. You know, just in case you were wondering.  Ha ha ha! :-P

Now back to talking about New York Fashion Week. I was blessed to be able to work on 4 fashion shows while in NYC. I almost did 5, but due to the snow on Sunday, the promoter felt it would be best to cancel it. So we did a photoshoot instead.

The 1st show I worked on was on 2/4/14. I assisted Celeb Makeup Artist AJ Crimson who was the Key for the Michael Bastian Show. It was a Mens Wear show and I had a great time. Muji was one of the sponsors for the makeup team.  They provided these amazing masks for skin prep.  I forgot to take a picture of them, but they’re really small; like the size of a nickle.  Once you wet them, they expand and you just peel it a part and place it on the face for a few minutes.  It provides instant hydration to the skin and makes it smooth and ready for makeup.   Below is a picture of AJ showing us how to use the Muji Masks.2014-02-04 13.12.452014-02-04 13.14.342014-02-04 13.14.46After the time is up for the mask, he sprayed Caudalie Beauty Elixir (also one of the sponsors for the Makeup Team). Then he perfected the skin with his AJ Crimson Creme Foundation

I have so much to share with you all. It’s hard for me to know when to stop so that I don’t overload you in one post.  I’m still trying to decide just how many parts I’m going to break up this series into.  In the meantime, I’ll stop here for the 1st part.  Make sure to stay tuned to find out more about my 1st experience working at NYFW!!! :-)

The newest installment of MAC Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass was released this week. The newest Viva Glam Spokesperson is Rihanna.

2014-01-03 10.18.091390806106815I purchased the lipstick and I love it. It’s a different red than the other MAC lipsticks.  It’s a pretty red frost. Here it is below.Viva Glam Rihanna ContainerThe box has Rihanna’s autograph

Viva Glam Rihanna LabelViva Glam Rihanna Lipstick TubeI Love this red packaging! The texture of the case feels really smooth. Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick Here’s what it looks like on my lipsViva Glam Rihanna lip applicationViva Glam Rihanna on lips close

Wearing VG Rihanna Lipstick 1Viva Glam Rihanna looking downViva Glam Rihanna Head shot tiltedViva Glam Rihanna holding tubeViva Glam Rihanna Head Tilted Yep, I’m very happy with this lipstick! Rihanna and her team did a great job picking this color.  I know a lot of people dislike frost textured products, but this one is really pretty and isn’t overly shimmery. Somehow it has just the right amount of sheen.  I worked at the counter today and sold quite a few of these Rihanna Lipsticks and Lipglasses.  I can honestly say I haven’t seen it look bad on anyone.  It’s a very wearable red.   It also has great staying power.  There’s not an official guaranteed time frame as far as how many hours it will last, but this is my 3rd day wearing it and I don’t have to touch up throughout the day until I eat.  Even when I drink water, the color stays true.

I’ll be buying more of these before they’re gone.  As a heads up it’s only available for a year. Also keep in mind all proceeds of MAC Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses go to the MAC AIDS fund.   You’re doing a good deed by purchasing these products so go get you some. :-)

I have several Wet n Wild lipsticks, mostly the matte lipsticks.  I’d never tried the Megalast liquid lipsticks until I got this one.Wet n Wild Back to the FuchsiaI purchased this one from CVS while they had a sale on Wet N Wild Products that was Buy One Get One half off! I also purchased some lipsticks from the Fergie collection.  To see my review of those lipsticks click here for Ferguson Crest Cabernet and here for Pagan Angel.

Back To The Fuchsia is a gorgeous color…but I haven’t figured out how to apply it evenly without it caking and being too dry. Wet n Wild Back to the Fuchsia on lips In the picture above I have about 3 coats of it.  I love that the color gets bolder the more you apply, but it also gets cakey and cracks. I’m still trying to play with it to figure how to apply it and prevent this from happening.  It seems like if I could get it on with one smooth stroke, it would be ok.  That’s just hard to do.  When I use the applicator I go across the top lip moving up and across then down and next I fill it in.  On the bottom lip I use the applicator going down and across then back up to the other side then I fill it in. This liquid lipstick dries pretty quickly so if I go back and apply more in the middle it’s no longer smooth.  It’s different than how you can apply a lipgloss where you can just go back and forth across your lips.

Anyway, below is the look I wore with this lip over the weekend. FOTD feat Wet n Wild Back to the Fuchsia Angle viewFOTD featuring Wet n Wild Back to the Fuschia Ha ha! A silly pose belowFOTD feat Wet n Wild Back to the Fuchsia silly pose

If you didn’t get a chance to get the MAC limited edition Haute Couture lipstick but still want to try a black lipstick, no worries. Here’s a much cheaper alternative.

Fergie Pagan Angel LipstickFergie Pagan Angel labelThis is Pagan Angel. It’s from the Fergie collection with Wet n Wild.Fergie Pagan Angel without topAbove is with a flash and below is without

Fergie Pagan Angel swatches with flashGranted it’s not a matte, however, if you want to make it matte, just add a transparent powder on top. ;-) This lipstick is creamy and glides on very smoothly. Below is a picture of it on my lips without a flash.Fergie Pagan Angel on lips no flashHere it is with a flashFergie Pagan Angel on lips with flashIt starts off sheer but is totally buildable, so the more you put on, the darker it gets. This is great because it makes it easier to wear. It doesn’t start off extremely dramatic.

This lipstick should be around $4 and could be a lot cheaper if on sale. I actually got it from CVS when they had Wet n Wild products on sale buy 1 get 1 1/2 off. It was regularly $3.49. I bought two other lipsticks from this collection that I’ll review in another post.

I like it. Can’t say that I’ll be wearing a black lip a lot, but I’m sure I’ll pull it out every now and then. Just as I stated with MAC Punk Couture, I’m sure Pagan Angel will be pretty when layered with other products like glosses, glitters, and pigments.

2013-11-08 23.14.58This product has been out for a while, but for whatever reason, I never tried it. I would see it while working at the counter but I just never ventured out of my normal routine of using either the original Prep and Prime Primer or the newer Prep and Prime Natural Radiance Primer.

I’m a big advocate of prepping the skin before applying makeup so I always prime first. I regularly use Make Up Forever’s HD Primer on my freelance jobs when I’m not working at the MAC Counter. I love it.  It’s always nice to discover new products that work well so I can expand my options in my pro makeup kit.

I decided to try the MAC Prep and Prime Moisture Infusion Serum a few weeks ago because I didn’t have the Natural Radiance at my particular station.  I was pleasantly surprised at how well the product works.

20131026_192800 This is what it looks like when you pump it out.

20131026_192813 This is how it looks after rubbing it in a bit.  It’s so lightweight and feels really good on the skin.  It’s a thin consistency so it blends really well without any residue.

The MAC Moisture Infusion Serum reminds me a lot of the MUFE HD Elixer. It’s like a hybrid between a primer and moisturizer all in one. It makes the skin feel hydrated  and allows the makeup to go on more smoothly. I’ve been using it ever since and my customers have really liked how their skin feels. It retails for $40. I’ll be adding it to my pro makeup kit soon.
