AJ Crimson On The Go Tour Flyer

In the previous post, I gave you a synopsis of the 1st half of the “On The Go” Tour featuring AJ Crimson and his AJ Crimson Pro products.  In this post, I’ll focus on the 2nd half of the class which includes Celebrity Lash Guru Ja’Maal Buster.

BeautyByLeRenda Ja'Maal Buster talking to the attendees of the On The Go Tour HoustonHe gave us the background on how he developed his brand of lashes and the benefit of using them verses other lashes.  The biggest benefit is the way the lashes feel.  They’re very lightweight and easy to maneuver. The bands are thin which makes it so much easier to apply to the lash line.  (I can vouch for this.  I really like his lashes. I bought some last year when I worked with him and AJ for  the Glam Suite during NBA  All-Star Weekend).

Ja’Maal asked for a volunteer to apply his lashes on.  BeautyByLeRenda Ja'Maal Buster's Model NikkiProfessional Makeup Artist Nikki was chosen as his model.

He informed us of the different styles of lashes and that each style was based on a story from his clients in his early years. The lashes have names like “Soap Opera” (which I wore last night), “Crush”, 2nd Date Guaranteed”, “Daddy’s Little Girl”, and “Disturbia” (named after the Rihanna video that he created amazing lashes for).

He showed us exactly how he uses the Ja’Maal Buster Lash Adhesive and Lash Tool to apply lashes on Nikki.

Yaaaaaasss!!! Two Celebrity Beauty Pros in one class. AJ Crimson and Ja’Maal Buster have been touring the country and they stopped in Houston a couple nights ago! :-)

AJ Crimson On The Go Tour Flyer

This is a 12 city tour that initially began with Celebrity Makeup Artist AJ Crimson educating his fans on his AJ Crimson Pro products and makeup techniques.  Before the St. Louis stop, Celebrity Lash Guru Ja’Maal Buster was added to the tour to facilitate lash techniques and to meet his “Lash Barbies”.  What an amazing combo!!!!

Before doing makeup and Lash applications, both AJ Crimson and Ja’Maal Buster gave their fans a summary of their backgrounds, which are truly inspiring.  They gave advice and shared some interesting tips to motivate everyone.

AJ went first with the Makeup Application.  He asked for volunteers and chose a young lady named Resha to be his model.

He began by explaining to us the benefits of his AJ Crimson Pro Creme Foundations.  Then he moisturized her face and applied the Banana Creme makeup to highlight.

Next he added his brand new Lip and Cheek color palette. BeautyByLeRenda AJ Crimson holding his Lip and Cheek Color PaletteAJ used the peach color on Resha’s cheeksBeautyByLeRenda AJ Crimson Lip and Cheek Palette used in On The Go Tour I’ve been waiting months to see this palette in real life.  Please excuse the blurry picture. The 2nd Show I worked on was for designer Ernest Alexander. He’s based in NYC and proudly manufactures 100% of  his line in the USA, with most pieces being made in the Garment District.  When I walked into the studio, he was actually one of the 1st people I met as I walked in the room. That was awesome!  He’s so nice and appreciative of all of the people who worked with him on his show. :-)

2014-02-05 17.16.37How cool is this car with the designer’s name on it? :-) IMG_20140205_232900Check out all of the snow that was shoved to the side. *whew*20140205_171312 I love how they went all out with the fashion.  Even with the cars.  I’m guessing Cadillac was one of the sponsors for the show.

I was blessed to have the opportunity to assist Key Makeup Artist Monae Everett. This was another Men’s Wear Fashion Show.  Here she is in action. Monae was showing us the look for the show.  IMG_20140205_142217 Beauty Blender reps came by to supply us with tools to use on the models.  You’ll notice she’s using a Beauty Blender in the picture.   Evolution Man was a sponsor for the makeup team.  Here are the products we used backstage on the models.

Fashion Week NO SignI had the honor of working as one of the makeup artist on the Glam Squad with Key Makeup Artist Niala Howard, of Magnolia Makeup, a couple of weeks ago for Fashion Week New Orleans.  The event took place at The Sugar Mill from 3/21-3/24.

Below are behind the scenes pictures. As a disclaimer, I didn’t bring my camera with me to work so I had to use my phone to capture all of my pics for this post.

I’m so grateful that Niala chose me to be a part of her Glam Squad for Fashion Week New Orleans.  It was an incredible experience.  I’ve worked with Fashion Shows before and had a wide range of encounters, but I have to say that Niala’s leadership allowed all of us on her team to learn, grow, be creative, and enjoy working together.  Each morning, I was excited to wake up and get to work.  I’m looking forward to working with her next year. :-)

2013-02-15 20.20.21

This weekend I worked with the incredible celebrity make up artist AJ Crimson and his makeup team at LeToya Luckett’s Lady L Boutique in the Houston Galleria Mall. We were a part of the Glam Slam Beauty Suite event that allowed clients to get a total makeover in one location. Teams were led by celebrity Hairstylist Kiyah Wright, Celebrity Lash Guru Jamaal Buster, and Celebrity Manicurists Skyye.

2013-02-17 12.38.20Above I’m with AJ Crimson wearing his Limited Edition Allstar Weekend Kissable Couture Lip Colors. I created a blue ombre lip. Below I’m with Platinum recording artist LeToya Luckett.2013-02-16 00.31.44

Words can’t express how grateful I was that AJ Crimson selected me to be a part of his makeup team.  This experience was spectacular! I was able to become more familiar with his Kissable Couture Lip Colors. I was introduced to his pressed powders. I also got to really work with the AJ Crimson Creme Foundations (which I reviewed a couple months ago here).  We provided makeovers Fri-Sun.

2013-02-15 15.04.50I’m holding the brand new AJ Crimson CCC palette.  It’s a convenient compact with all 8 shades of his Creme Foundation. I’d highly recommend it for makeup artist who want great foundation in a condensed form.  I’d also recommend it for makeup lovers who want to have versatility with creating looks.  You can do your overall skin color, highlight, contour, add cheek color, do lips, etc… So many options with this product.

2013-02-15 11.52.06Here are the Kissable Couture Lip Colors and AJ Crimson Creme Foundations and Pressed Powders. I really, really like his lip colors.  They range from sheer glosses to liquid lipsticks.  They all feel very comfortable on your lips without being too sticky or tacky.  My favorite is Fantasies, which I purchased 2 tubes at The Makeup Show Orlando.  It’s a beautiful red…but they’re currently out of stock so we didn’t use it for the event. :-(2013-02-16 00.33.35Here is Aj doing a lip demo

OMG! These lashes are amazing!!

OMG! These lashes are amazing!! Can’t wait to try them on my clients.

I learned a new technique from Jamaal and his team this weekend. Instead of waving the lashes back and forth while you’re waiting for the glue to get tacky, just use a small hand held fan to quickly dry the glue.  He’s a genius! I’ve been doing makeup for 6yrs now, this has never crossed my mind. Totally going to get a little fan for my kit now. :-)

Yay! I met YouTube Beauty Guru Ateya. She was one of the first people I followed on YouTube years ago. She's super sweet in person.
