Welcome to Part 2 of my recap of the Make Up For Ever Pro Artistry Class that was held in March 2014. To see part 1, click here. This is my 2nd post of the “Way Back When” Series. BeautyByLeRenda MUFE Pro Artistry Class 2The 2nd class I took was Editorial Dark Beauty facilitated by Regional Artist Amber Lynn. As a warning, my battery was running low, so I missed some of the look being created. :-(  So, to recap what I didn’t get in pictures, she began by priming the skin with HD Primer.  She used MUFE Face and Body 20 and let it sit a while to get a bit tacky, then blended to get just the right texture.

She used Aqua Brow to shape the brows with Pro Waterproof liner for the wing.  She instructed us to never pull up the eye and to make sure that the inner corners are just as sharp as the outer wing.  Also it’s very helpful step back frequently to check symmetry. 20140316_141326Here’s Amber Lynn working on her model’s eyes.20140316_142157She used MUFE eyeshadows and blended them really well (even on the lower lash line), as well as the Aqua Eyeshadow Stick in 22E in the water water line to create the look.20140316_143249Then she did the lips.  She mentioned that she understands how it can be difficult to get that perfect lip, so she showed us how she sometimes holds the lips to get a straight line.  Great idea! :-)BeautyByLeRenda MUFE Pro Artistry Class 2 Amber LynnAmber used Aqua Lip 19C with Lab Shine Gloss on top.  For the cheeks, she used the very popular #92 eyeshadow with a touch (very lightly) of the fuchsia from the Flash Color Palette.

Amber Lynn did a great job with her makeup application and educating the class on the techniques she uses for editorial jobs.  I hate that my battery ran out before I was able to get the total completed look. :-(

Stay tuned for Part 3 of my recap of the Make Up Forever Pro Artistry Classes.

I’m going to start right off by saying “Go Get This Lip Palette!!!” No…really…you should purchase this palette.

image(The top of my palette is stained from me spraying Beauty So Clean Sanitizing Spray over time.  It started off clear)  The Primary Infinity Palette is an absolute staple in my Professional Makeup Artist Kit. I can create all kinds of looks with this one palette.  These colors are very vibrant, not at all sheer, and easy to blend.  They are just the right creamy texture; not too thick.  They apply well to the skin without being too greasy.  Even though it’s a lip palette, the Primary Infinity Palette can effortlessly be blended into pretty cheek colors.

Below, I’ll show you how I created a gorgeous burgundy Fall lip on model Keneice for our photoshoot with talented Houston photographer Ambient Noir.

imageimageFirst I used my spatula to scoop out some red, purple, and black.  Then I mixed those colors together until I got the color burgundy that I wanted.image I later added MAC Cremestick Lip Liner in Velvetella.

Here’s what it looks like.imageimageimageModel Keneice did a fantastic job werkin the camera! It was such a pleasure doing her makeup. :-)

image Stay tuned for my next post where I’ll use the same Magnolia Makeup Primary Infinity Lip Palette to create a pretty red lip on Keneice.

I received the Beauty Treats Green Tea Makeup Cleansing Tissues in a goodie bag that I won at The Makeup Show Dallas Pre Mixer hosted by Faith of OnlineWithFaith.com at The MUA Project in Houston.  She was allowed to pick some of her favorite products from this store and these wipes were part of her faves.

By now, you should know about my love for makeup remover wipes and how I’m always on the hunt for new ones…even though I ALWAYS return back to my beloved Ponds wipes. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of these wipes because I’d never heard of them.  I also wasn’t sure about the Green Tea. I was worried the fragrance would be too strong.

image These Beauty Treats Green Tea wipes are actually good!!  They are a nice size, as seen in the above picture.  They do a good job of removing all of my makeup. On average I use 2 or 3 depending on how much makeup I had on that day.  The fragrance is just enough to notice, but not overwhelming.  I like the packaging.  The seal opens and closes without any problems.  I’ve had some wipes that have seals that don’t stick or lay down properly which causes the wipes to dry out.

Overall I like these wipes and may purchase another pack.  The only downside was that the first few wipes weren’t as moist as the middle and last ones. This is one of the major reasons I consistently use the Ponds wipes. They are wet from beginning to the end.

I learned about the Muji Face Lotion Sheets, or Compressed Facial Masks Sheets as it’s listed on the Muji Website, in Feb of this year when I worked New York Fashion Week assisting Celebrity Makeup Artist AJ Crimson. We used them on the models as a part of the skin prep.

image

I didn’t get a chance to purchase any then, but I made it a point to get some of these masks when I returned to New York Fashion Week in Sept of this year.  Before using these sheets, I had no idea Muji made anything else besides organizing products. When I went to the Muji store, I found out they sell a wide variety of items including an entire skin care line.

I’m so fascinated with these masks! I think it’s super cool that they start off as these little pellets but then expand after you wet them.  imageimage

image Here’s what it looks like fully unfolded and on the face.

image I like to take time to spread it out to really make it fit on the face, but it was hard to do that while holding my phone trying to take a picture. LOL! Also, my client had just gotten her hair done and I didn’t want to put the mask on her hair.  Below is the finished makeup application. image

I really like using these masks during my makeup application appointments.  I view them sort of like an added VIP service.  They make my clients feel more relaxed during the makeover.  The Muji masks also helps to provide some instant hydration to the skin and leaves it smoother; which also means the makeup looks better. I’d highly recommend these.

The newest installment of MAC Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass was released this week. The newest Viva Glam Spokesperson is Rihanna.

2014-01-03 10.18.091390806106815I purchased the lipstick and I love it. It’s a different red than the other MAC lipsticks.  It’s a pretty red frost. Here it is below.Viva Glam Rihanna ContainerThe box has Rihanna’s autograph

Rihanna and her team did a great job picking this color.  I know a lot of people dislike frost textured products, but this one is really pretty and isn’t overly shimmery. Somehow it has just the right amount of sheen.  I worked at the counter today and sold quite a few of these Rihanna Lipsticks and Lipglasses.  I can honestly say I haven’t seen it look bad on anyone.  It’s a very wearable red.   It also has great staying power.  There’s not an official guaranteed time frame as far as how many hours it will last, but this is my 3rd day wearing it and I don’t have to touch up throughout the day until I eat.  Even when I drink water, the color stays true.

I’ll be buying more of these before they’re gone.  As a heads up it’s only available for a year. Also keep in mind all proceeds of MAC Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses go to the MAC AIDS fund.   You’re doing a good deed by purchasing these products so go get you some. :-)

I have several Wet n Wild lipsticks, mostly the matte lipsticks.  I’d never tried the Megalast liquid lipsticks until I got this one.Wet n Wild Back to the FuchsiaI purchased this one from CVS while they had a sale on Wet N Wild Products that was Buy One Get One half off! I also purchased some lipsticks from the Fergie collection.  To see my review of those lipsticks click here for Ferguson Crest Cabernet and here for Pagan Angel.

Back To The Fuchsia is a gorgeous color…but I haven’t figured out how to apply it evenly without it caking and being too dry. Wet n Wild Back to the Fuchsia on lips In the picture above I have about 3 coats of it.  I love that the color gets bolder the more you apply, but it also gets cakey and cracks. I’m still trying to play with it to figure how to apply it and prevent this from happening.  It seems like if I could get it on with one smooth stroke, it would be ok.  That’s just hard to do.  When I use the applicator I go across the top lip moving up and across then down and next I fill it in.  On the bottom lip I use the applicator going down and across then back up to the other side then I fill it in. This liquid lipstick dries pretty quickly so if I go back and apply more in the middle it’s no longer smooth.  It’s different than how you can apply a lipgloss where you can just go back and forth across your lips.

Anyway, below is the look I wore with this lip over the weekend. FOTD feat Wet n Wild Back to the Fuchsia Angle viewFOTD featuring Wet n Wild Back to the Fuschia Ha ha! A silly pose belowFOTD feat Wet n Wild Back to the Fuchsia silly pose
