In this post I’ll show you three more dark lip looks that I experimented with for Halloween that can still be used with the Fall/Winter Trend. 1st up is a MAC Limited Edition Matteen called Midnight Media. Here’s what it looks like alone on my lips Next I added my beloved MAC Vanilla Pigment.
In the previous post I experimented with MAC Black Knight Lipstick. In this post I’ll be using Wet N Wild Lipstick Pagan Angel from the Fergie Collection. I love everything about this lipstick. I did a review of it last year but didn’t really wear it. Pagan Angel was the 1st lipstick that came to mind when I decided to go with dark lips for Halloween.
Since I used the MAC GlimmerGlass in Blackware in the previous post, I decided to try something different and go with more sparkle and gloss. I used MAC GlimmerGlass in Bling Black on top to get this effect. Here’s what this combo looks like on my lips below
*Remember my disclaimer about trying to decide what eye look to pair with my dark lips. I wouldn’t normally have two different ones on. Ha! *
This Wet N Wild Pagan Angel is by far my favorite black lipstick. #1 it’s inexpensive. #2 it has great staying power. #3 it feels really good on my lips. It’s nice and creamy. Good job Wet N Wild! I wish I would’ve purchased two of these last year because I’m not sure if this color is still available.
Every year around this time, people tend to get rid of their bright pink, orange, lavender, and coral lip colors in exchange for darker berries, purples, burgundies, browns, and even black lip colors.
In this series, I’m going to show you some of the colors I’ll be using this season. Starting off with my variation of Black Lips. **Now before I go any further, I want to give a disclaimer. I was doing practice looks for Halloween when I took most of these pictures, hence the bright blue wig and the mismatched eye makeup. Ha ha! I couldn’t decide whether to go with dark eyes or more neutral eyes. I was also trying to decide which black combo to use. **
I began with MAC Black Knight Lipstick. Due to Black Knight being a Cremesheen, it goes on pretty sheer. This looks more like a dark purple than black, so I added Urban Decay Perversion Pencil. It’s the smoothest & blackest pencil I have.
The Perversion Pencil made a big difference. I was curious to see how a glossier lip would look, so I added MAC Blackware GlimmerGlass. I really like the high shine effect that I got from using Blackware GlimmerGlass. Stay tuned for Part 2 of my Dark Lip Fall/Winter 2014 Trend series.
WOW! Would be the short and sweet version of my 1st New York Fashion Week experience, however, I’m sure you’d prefer actual details of my trip. LOL!
I had to take selfies with the snow in the background because before this trip, I’d never been in real snow. By the way, I’m wearing MAC Lipstick in Sin. It’s a Pro color. It lasted all day! Like, for real. I took it off before I went to sleep that night. I tried it on at the MAC Pro Soho store and kept it on.
I was on my way to work on a photoshoot with UK Designer Blessed Zion. This explains why I’m at the store with my Zuca and my bag. You know, just in case you were wondering. Ha ha ha!
Now back to talking about New York Fashion Week. I was blessed to be able to work on 4 fashion shows while in NYC. I almost did 5, but due to the snow on Sunday, the promoter felt it would be best to cancel it. So we did a photoshoot instead.
The 1st show I worked on was on 2/4/14. I assisted Celeb Makeup Artist AJ Crimson who was the Key for the Michael Bastian Show. It was a Mens Wear show and I had a great time. Above is a picture of the AJ Crimson Glam Squad for the Michael Bastian Show. Here are a few behind the scenes shots I took. The hair and makeup team getting prepared for the models to come in.
Above is my makeup station set up. Below is a picture of the models, and designer team getting the guys ready for the runway
Muji was one of the sponsors for the makeup team. They provided these amazing masks for skin prep. I forgot to take a picture of them, but they’re really small; like the size of a nickle. Once you wet them, they expand and you just peel it a part and place it on the face for a few minutes. It provides instant hydration to the skin and makes it smooth and ready for makeup. Below is a picture of AJ showing us how to use the Muji Masks. After the time is up for the mask, he sprayed Caudalie Beauty Elixir (also one of the sponsors for the Makeup Team). Then he perfected the skin with his AJ Crimson Creme Foundation
Here are a couple of the looks from the show below.
I have so much to share with you all. It’s hard for me to know when to stop so that I don’t overload you in one post. I’m still trying to decide just how many parts I’m going to break up this series into. In the meantime, I’ll stop here for the 1st part. Make sure to stay tuned to find out more about my 1st experience working at NYFW!!!
The newest installment of MAC Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass was released this week. The newest Viva Glam Spokesperson is Rihanna.
Yep, I’m very happy with this lipstick! Rihanna and her team did a great job picking this color. I know a lot of people dislike frost textured products, but this one is really pretty and isn’t overly shimmery. Somehow it has just the right amount of sheen. I worked at the counter today and sold quite a few of these Rihanna Lipsticks and Lipglasses. I can honestly say I haven’t seen it look bad on anyone. It’s a very wearable red. It also has great staying power. There’s not an official guaranteed time frame as far as how many hours it will last, but this is my 3rd day wearing it and I don’t have to touch up throughout the day until I eat. Even when I drink water, the color stays true.
I’ll be buying more of these before they’re gone. As a heads up it’s only available for a year. Also keep in mind all proceeds of MAC Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses go to the MAC AIDS fund. You’re doing a good deed by purchasing these products so go get you some.
I have several Wet n Wild lipsticks, mostly the matte lipsticks. I’d never tried the Megalast liquid lipsticks until I got this one.I purchased this one from CVS while they had a sale on Wet N Wild Products that was Buy One Get One half off! I also purchased some lipsticks from the Fergie collection. To see my review of those lipsticks click here for Ferguson Crest Cabernet and here for Pagan Angel.
Back To The Fuchsia is a gorgeous color…but I haven’t figured out how to apply it evenly without it caking and being too dry. In the picture above I have about 3 coats of it. I love that the color gets bolder the more you apply, but it also gets cakey and cracks. I’m still trying to play with it to figure how to apply it and prevent this from happening. It seems like if I could get it on with one smooth stroke, it would be ok. That’s just hard to do. When I use the applicator I go across the top lip moving up and across then down and next I fill it in. On the bottom lip I use the applicator going down and across then back up to the other side then I fill it in. This liquid lipstick dries pretty quickly so if I go back and apply more in the middle it’s no longer smooth. It’s different than how you can apply a lipgloss where you can just go back and forth across your lips.
